Now if we can only get
GOD OUT OF CHURCH!
Let’s start with His Miracles
Lutheran Outrider
So far, with help from our ACLU friends and our relativist (whatever) attitude, we have been successful in removing God from our Government and from our Schools. Now if only we can get Him out of Church!
In the past year or so I have been witness to a very disturbing trend. My wife and I had an opportunity to travel to Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary (PLTS) in Berkeley, CA. Sandwiched around that visit, I was subjected to some of the most bewildering dialogue I had ever heard. Prior to, and after our weekend at PLTS, I had several discussions about the Miracle of the feeding of the five thousand. Indeed I heard sermons on 2 different occasions that brought the Miracle down to the people “sharing” their food. This seems incredible to me as it is clear in all 4 Gospels that Jesus produced the food from the 5 loaves and 2 fishes the little boy had brought. The discussion and sermons were that all people of this period had pouches with food in them and they simply shared with all others their supper. Note this is late evening supper as they had been there all day. They most probably had eaten this food earlier in the day. As the Apostles came to Jesus and said that the people were “hungry” He asked them for the food from the little boy. Now if they had food why were they hungry? Why didn’t Jesus just say “let’s eat”? When He was given the food He “looked up to Heaven, and Blessed and broke the loaves, and gave them to His Disciples to set before the people; and He divided the two fish among them all.” This quote is from the book of Mark but as noted above, the feeding can be found in all 4 Gospels*. Miracle or “sharing”? I would choose to believe the Bible as it is the Word of God. Then to top it off after we returned from PLTS, we attended a gathering to discuss Mission work for the Synod. During the evening we heard from our Bishop. I did not get the connection but during his talk he also referred to the feeding as just a “sharing” of the food they had brought. Miracle or “sharing”?
As the Miracles of Jesus are trivialized, where does it stop? Can they explain away the other 43? At the PLTS Credo Program the topic was that the Bible was just a bunch of stories handed down from generation to generation. The only Miracle they recognized was the Resurrection. Now how can that be if He was not Divine? Belief in the Bible as the Holy Scripture, the Word of God, is what we are taught to learn and live by as Christians, is it not? Reference 2 Timothy chapter 3 verse 16 “All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that everyone who belongs to God may be proficient, equipped for every good work.”
We must not stand by as Relativism becomes more and more prevalent. We must stand up and take back the church that is being hijacked by forces that claim to be following Luther’s teachings but are in fact pulling further and further away with each generation. In other words we must get back to the teachings of Jesus and follow God’s Holy Scripture.
As my wife and I journey through the balance of our lives, we believe He has a purpose for us. We are going to be more vigilant than ever against those who would subvert or deny the power of Gods Holy Word and/or the Miracles of Jesus. We are following Him as He is directing the paths we are taking. Reference Proverbs 3.6
To all who read this, I pray you will come back to the true teachings of Martin Luther and his writings. If Luther saw what was happening to the teachings from the Lutheran Church today I am sure he would be very displeased.
